About
Canadian federal space agency contributing Canadarm3 robotic system for the Lunar Gateway and providing astronaut Jeremy Hansen to the Artemis II crew. First non-US astronaut assigned to a crewed lunar mission.
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) manages Canada's civil space program, focusing on Earth observation, satellite communications and human spaceflight. The agency is a critical partner in the International Space Station and the Artemis lunar program.
It is currently developing the Canadarm3, an autonomous robotic system for the lunar Gateway station. In exchange for its robotic contributions, the CSA secured a seat on the Artemis II mission for astronaut Jeremy Hansen, marking the first time a non-US astronaut has been assigned to a crewed lunar flight. The Canadian government established the agency in 1989. It is headquartered in Saint-Hubert, Quebec.
