Satellogic Sells NewSat-34 to HEO — Australia's First Sovereign Sub-Meter Satellite

Satellogic and Australian non-Earth imaging company HEO announced the sale and transfer of the operational NewSat-34 (Mark IV-g) satellite on January 27, 2026. HEO renamed the spacecraft Continuum-1 and became the first Australian entity to own and operate a sub-meter resolution satellite. The transaction, conducted under Satellogic's Sovereignty Government Program, provides HEO with immediate operational capacity and a dedicated on-orbit testbed for non-Earth imaging R&D. Satellogic continues providing operational support. Separately, Satellogic signed an $18 million agreement with CEiiA in Portugal for two NewSat Mark V satellites to be delivered in Q2–Q3 2026.

Why it matters

Selling an operational legacy satellite is a novel distribution model — instant sovereign capability at a fraction of the cost of a new build. This is a repeatable playbook for Satellogic and a wake-up call for every mid-tier government still waiting for a bespoke satellite program to deliver. The Portugal deal shows the same logic in Europe.
