About
Munich-based company building Nyx, a reusable capsule to carry cargo to space stations and later crew; flew the Mission Possible demo in 2025.
The Exploration Company develops Nyx, a modular and reusable spacecraft designed to transport cargo—and eventually humans—to low Earth orbit and the Moon. Nyx is built with a conical re-entry capsule and a cylindrical service module, offering up to 4,000 kg of payload capacity. The vehicle utilizes green propellants, open-source avionics software and is designed to be refueled in orbit, making it a flexible logistics platform for commercial space stations and lunar gateways.
The company flew its first suborbital re-entry demonstrator in 2024 and completed its orbital test flight in 2025. It has secured significant funding, including a massive $450 million Series C in late 2026, and holds major cargo contracts with the European Space Agency and Axiom Space.
Hélène Huby founded the company in 2021 with a team of former Airbus and ArianeGroup engineers. It maintains dual headquarters in Munich, Germany, and Bordeaux, France.
