About
Innovation division of the U.S. Space Force (under AFWERX) that funds and transitions commercial dual-use space technologies via SBIR/STTR, STRATFI and challenge programs for Guardian operational needs.
SpaceWERX partners with startups and nontraditional vendors to accelerate commercial space capabilities into Space Force operations. It runs SBIR/STTR awards, Strategic Funding Increases (STRATFI) and technology challenges covering domains such as space domain awareness, cislunar operations and on-orbit computing.
In fiscal year 2025 it awarded roughly 300 contracts totaling about $510 million. Headquartered in Los Angeles and directed by Arthur Grijalva. It works closely with Space Systems Command’s Commercial Space Office.
