About
Indian startup building near-space platforms (VISTA super-pressure balloons, ALTIS tethered aerostats, HELIX airships) for persistent operations between 20 and 50 km altitude.
Red Balloon Aerospace develops lighter-than-air platforms for the near-space domain. Its first product, the VISTA super-pressure balloon, reached approximately 25 km on a commercial mission in May 2026 carrying payloads from multiple partners, placing India among a small group of nations with indigenous stratospheric hydrogen-balloon capability.
The company is also developing ALTIS tethered aerostats and HELIX long-endurance autonomous airships aimed at telecommunications, Earth observation and eventual cargo or crew-test roles. Founded in 2025 in Vijayawada by former Skyroot Aerospace executives CVS Kiran and Sireesh Pallikonda.
