About

Alpha Impulsion builds hybrid autophage engines. The motor consumes the rocket body from the bottom up during ascent, so there are no separate tanks, stages or secondary engines to carry. Two products are planned: Opal, a 1 kN in-space thruster for space tugs, and Grenat, a micro-launcher. The demonstrator program is AMBRE, a 1 kN engine. The technology is patented in 48 countries.

CNES has backed the company, and it won a roughly €950,000 innovation prize in Italy. It hot-fired what it calls the world's largest autophage engine in 2025. In August 2026 Aurora Avionics (Edinburgh) took a contract to supply the engine control and power distribution electronics for a 1 kN engine, for a fourth hot-fire campaign planned in 2027. Marius Celette is CEO.

Founded in 2022, with teams in Toulouse, France and in Italy. Vincenzo Mazzella, co-founder and COO, runs the Italian branch.
