Aalyria Raises $100M Series B at $1.3B Valuation — Google Spinout Now Space Networking Unicorn

Aalyria, the Alphabet/Google spinout founded in 2022, closed a $100M Series B on February 23, 2026, led by Battery Ventures and J2 Ventures with DYNE participating, at a $1.3 billion valuation. The company develops Spacetime (AI-driven network orchestration for dynamic satellite-ground-air meshes) and Tightbeam (ultra-high-speed laser communications terminals). A January 2026 AFRL contract puts Spacetime in the Space Data Network Experimentation (SDNX) program. Active programs include Telesat Lightspeed (providing the control plane for the $3.5B LEO constellation), NASA EO data delivery, and ESA O-RAN bridging. Battery GP Michael Brown joins the board.

Why it matters

Aalyria is building the "internet backbone" for the proliferated LEO economy — the layer that routes traffic between SpaceX, Amazon Leo, SDA, ESA, and everyone else without restarting the whole network every time a satellite moves. If Spacetime becomes the default orchestration standard, Aalyria captures a recurring fee from every constellation that launches. AFRL's SDNX contract is the first signal that DoD sees it that way too.

Google spinout Aalyria valued at $1.3 billion as investors pour into space-based communications

CNBC profiles Aalyria's $100M Series B at $1.3B valuation. Google retains a stake. Battery Ventures GP Michael Brown frames the thesis: post-Ukraine, governments "love Starlink but want alternatives" — Aalyria lets you route traffic seamlessly when you have multiple constellations. Key deployments: Telesat Lightspeed control plane, NASA EO, ESA 5G/6G bridging, Rivada Space Networks LEO constellation. AFRL SDNX contract announced January 22, 2026.
